1. Basic Concepts

PEEK rods (Polyether Ether Ketone rods) are semi-finished profiles in rod form, manufactured from Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) raw material through extrusion or molding processes. Recognized as one of the thermoplastic specialty engineering plastics with the most outstanding comprehensive performance available today, PEEK is widely hailed as the "Gold of Plastics."
2.Advantages of PEEK Rod
Exceptional High-Temperature Resistance
Continuous Service Temperature: 260°C
Short-Term Withstand Temperature: Up to 300°C+
Melting Point: Approx. 343°C
Reinforced Grades (Glass Fiber / Carbon Fiber): Heat deflection temperature reaches 310°C–326°C. Maintains excellent mechanical strength and dimensional stability even at high temperatures.
High Strength and Rigidity
Pure Resin: Tensile strength of approx. 90–100 MPa
Carbon Fiber Reinforced: Up to 200 MPa
Possesses the most outstanding fatigue resistance among all plastics, comparable to certain metal alloys. Features a high specific strength, enabling it to effectively replace metals for lightweighting applications.
Excellent Chemical Resistance
Exhibits strong resistance to the vast majority of acids, bases, salts, organic solvents, and oils.
Corrosion occurs only under extremely rare, highly oxidizing conditions—such as exposure to concentrated sulfuric acid at high temperatures.
Excellent hydrolysis resistance; capable of withstanding high-temperature, high-pressure steam.
Outstanding Wear Resistance and Self-Lubrication
Low coefficient of friction; possesses excellent resistance to wear and creep.
Ideal for manufacturing transmission components—such as bearings, gears, and sliders—that require oil-free lubrication and high-speed operation.
Exceptional Dimensional Stability
Low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, closely approaching that of metals.
Low molding shrinkage rate, resulting in high-precision parts after processing.
Extremely low moisture absorption; dimensions remain virtually unchanged in humid environments.
Excellent Electrical and Safety Properties
Superior insulation performance; stable dielectric constant and dissipation factor.
Good flame retardancy (UL94 V-0 rating); produces low smoke and low toxicity during combustion.
Good Biocompatibility
Non-toxic and non-allergenic; complies with FDA standards for food contact applications.
Capable of withstanding various medical sterilization methods, including steam, ethylene oxide, and gamma radiation.
An ideal material for human implants in orthopedic, dental, and other medical fields.
3.Main Types of PEEK Rod
PEEK rods typically serve as raw materials, undergoing precision machining—such as turning, milling, and CNC processing—to be transformed into a wide variety of components. They are extensively utilized in the following high-end sectors:
Aerospace
Manufacture of cabin interior components, radomes, bearings, gears, fasteners, and seals.
Medical Devices
Orthopedics: Artificial joints, spinal fusion cages, bone plates, and bone screws.
Dentistry: Denture frameworks and implant abutments.
Surgical Instruments: Endoscope components, minimally invasive surgical tools, and sterile equipment parts.
Electronics & Semiconductors
Wafer carriers, insulating spacers, test sockets, and microwave insulation components.
Oil & Gas / Chemical Industry
Valve seats, sealing rings, pump impellers, compressor valve plates, and pipe fittings.
Automotive Industry
Engine peripheral components, transmission bearings, brake pads, and seals.
Industrial Machinery & Food Processing
High-precision gears, bearings, sliders, and contact parts for food processing machinery.
